Posada El Quijote is surrounded by beautiful gardens with seating areas where guests can sit and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the gardens, and the views to the city and of the surrounding mountains, volcanoes and the central valley. A full, made-to-order, American breakfast or typical breakfast is available each morning between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on the front terrace, surrounded by tropical plants and a fountain.

Guests can gather in the large common area or on the open back terrace to watch the sun go down and the city lights begin to glow. There is also high-speed wireless internet access, and an extensive library available. Guests are welcome to use the hotel facitilies for meetings. We can also arrange for larger meetings if needed (10-20 people).

We have receptionists on site 24 hours, 7 days a week, in order to meet your needs at anytime. Both owners and one of our receptionists (Ivan) live on site. We accept arrivals/departures at all hours, however, for security reasons, we kindly ask guests to let us know their approximate time of arrival for any arrival, especially for very late arrivals / during the night.

Tours and day trips

Although sometimes overlooked by those heading straight for the beach, San Jose and the Central Valley has a large amount of both in terms of nature, history and culture. We work together with several local tour operators, that can offer you a large selection of longer or shorter tours and daytrips for you to enjoy during your stay with us.

This includes: Touring with Private Drivers, Beach trips, Costa Rica’s Fantastic Fishing, Jungle and Rainforest Tours, Whitewater Rafting, Bird Watching, Lodging Outside of San José, Wildlife and Nature Trips, The Butterfly Farm, Bird Zoo, Coffee Plantation Tours, Volcano Trips, Pacific Island Boat Tours or tickets to cultural events.

In addition, through Urban Adventures we can offer several different day-trips in San Jose – from tasting local artesenal beer, to walking through the markets of central San Jose.

The Central Valley COMBO tour has been particularly popular with our visitors over the years. Thi is a day trip (lasting approximately 9-10 hours, including visits to the Poas Volcano, a coffeeplantation, as well as to see a large selection of the wildlife Costa Rica has to offer, and sample some local culinary specialities.

Transport & travel arrangements

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any sort of travel arrangement during your stay. If of interest we would be happy to have someone pick you up at the airport, arrange transport to any part of Costa Rica and/or organise private driver to take you around San Jose and the Central Valley.

There are normally many different options for transport through Costa Rica – offering differing prices, comfort and travel times – depending on what your priority is. Please get in touch with us and we will give yoan overview of all the options to get to your destinations.

We also work with car rental companies and can get very good rates depending on the length of you stay.
